Dracula Untold = The Castlevania film we are hoping for?

Over the week, a friend shared with me a movie trailer for an upcoming film; Dracula Untold.

After watching the film, I can't help but feel as if I'm watching a live-action Castlevania movie. Infact, there's even a scene in the trailer that closely resembles that of the trailer for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. Here's the trailer:

The one thing that strikes me the most is how the end of the trailer for the movie "Dracula: Untold" where Dracula summons a legion of bats to stomp the enemy, closely mirrors that scene from the trailer of "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2" where Dracula also stomps the enemy, but as a black mist.

Even the costume design for "Dracula: Untold" reminds me of a character from Castlevania Lament of Innocence; Mathias Cronqvist (whom fans of the series know to be the man who would later be Dracula).

Both share a similarity with Dracula sporting jet black hair, with matching black fur on one side, and that chain around his neck. Aside from the red cape, its almost similar at the very least. Then there's the armor. That one closely resembles that armor worn by Walter Bernhard from Castlevania Lament of Innocence as well:

The thing to note would be the overlapping dragons and dragon wings on Dracula's breastplate similarly matches the idea of Walter Bernhard's armor. Then there's Dracula's wife:

I find this interesting as both women are blonde, both of them have deep misty blue eyes, and they seem to both wear the same white dress.

Maybe I'm taking everything too seriously, but I guess it's just me to wish and hope to watch a Castlevania movie. I mean almost every videogame franchise has been given the movie treatment, from Super Mario Bros, to Mortal Kombat, Tekken, heck even Dead or Alive got its own movie! And for a franchise that's as legendary as Castlevania, I just don't understand why there's no movie adaptation yet. Hopefully, at the very least this film will give me a glimpse of what's possible for a Castlevania movie...

  1. It is very Castlevania. Down to the armor, costumes, characters. You will recognize the epilogue if you had played LOS 1.

    1. Yeah, makes me wonder though if the director/producers intended to make a Castlevania movie all along, but something happened along the way so they changed the title and other liberties.

  4. I'm glad there are other people who see this, when I first saw the movie I was telling everyone it looks like they based it off Castlevania Lords of shadows 2 and others. Even the ending was just like in Castlevania Lords of shadows.
